Michael Volpe is a multi-disciplinary artist based in Oakland, CA. His photography, glass sculpture, and writing reflect one common theme— presenting life’s ironies in a superimposed state while uncovering the mundane as profound. Michael inspires observation of the many contradictions within and around us instead of impulsive reaction to them. Seemingly opposite viewpoints are suggested in Michael’s work as a way for the viewer to go beyond conditioned binary responses (craving or aversion) to arrive at a place of love and acceptance. As a path towards “seeing the game for what it is,” Michael’s art weaves together his academic background in Physics and Economics with a spiritual training in Mysticism and Buddhist philosophy.
